A beginners guide to Ascension

Welcome to Guild of Guardians! If you’re reading this then you’ve probably started playing and hopefully found your favourite Guardian! If you haven’t yet, check out Palmera - she’s one of the best early game Guardians to have in your party!

For this article, we’re going to focus on increasing your Guardian’s stats through a process called ‘Ascension’. Ascension is separate to leveling up your Guardians via the Resonance Crystal or Enlightening your Guardian; once ascended your Guardian unlocks a new leveling up track called Radiance.

TL;DR, once a Guardian goes through Ascension they become a ‘Radiant’ Guardian. Radiant Guardians have up to an extra 10  levels of Radiance (dependent on the Guardian’s rarity), each level providing progressively higher increases to your Guardian’s stats. Furthermore, Radiant Guardians are transformed into real digital collectables (NFTs), which means they are 1/1 collectors items and can be traded on the marketplace.

What is Ascension?

Think of Ascension as unlocking a new means to increase your Guardian’s stats. When you summon a Guardian using either Summoning Stones or Calling Crystals via Featured Banners, the Guardians are in their ‘base’ form. Unascended or base form Guardians can increase their Guardian Level  up to 220 via the Resonance Crystal, and their Enlightenment Level anywhere from 5 to 15 depending on their Rarity. As a bonus, Guardians all level up at the same time which saves you time and resources!

When Guardians go through Ascension, they become Radiant. Radiant Guardians have their own separate Radiance level similar to Enlightenment with some important differences. Depending on the Guardian’s Rarity, they can achieve a Radiance level of either 4 for Rare Guardians, 7 for Epic Guardians, or 10 for Legendary Guardians. . Each level up provides an impactful boost to the Guardian’s stats,  increasing well beyond their Base stats.

For example, Adella is a 5 Enlightenment Level (often referred to as ‘stars’)  legendary Guardian (you can get her for free if you complete the Ascension Tutorial in-game!) in her base form. To Ascend Adella, you need to use Ascension Seals. Once Adella has Ascended, she turns into the ‘Radiant’ form. This particular copy of Adella you now own has an extra 12 levels of Radiance to level up to. Her base level is separate to her Radiance level.

Ascension, Digital Collectables, and Chromas

‍

Ascension doesn’t just stop at a stat boost. The next benefit of becoming a Radiant Guardian is that it transforms into a real digital collectable, aka an NFT. Radiant Guardians are true unique 1/1 digital collectables which can also be traded on any marketplace that supports the Immutable zkEVM blockchain. (Such as TokenTrove)

The second benefit of Ascending your Guardian is  a chance that it gains a   new alternate ‘Chroma’. Chromas are ultra rare skins of your Guardian and they come in 3 rarities

• Champion

BONUS! What is Enlightenment?

Guardians have an associated rarity which corresponds to their base Enlightenment level, often referred to as stars. 

• Legendary, 5 Enlightenment
• Epic, 3 Enlightenment
• Rare, 1 Enlightenment
  
  

To increase a Guardians’  stats, players can Enlighten their Guardians. The higher the rarity and enlightenment you want to achieve, the more resources and duplicate Guardians you’ll need to own!
